Getting started

ESO Insights is the next-generation data analytics and visualization platform for the ESO Suite. You can use the Insights module to edit and modify ESO-provided dashboards, and to access the ESO Analytics reports you have used in the past. A dashboard provides data from a collection of individual "widgets" in one display.  Widgets display the data in visually appealing forms such as pie graphs, charts, maps, counters, and pivot tables. This collection presents a "big picture" of data from the ESO Suite modules your agency or department has purchased. In the ESO Insights module, you can even create your own dashboards if existing dashboards do not meet your agency or department's specific needs.

Depending on your permissions in the ESO Insights module, you can work in one of the following user roles.

• An ESO Insights designer can create, modify, share, and delete dashboards.

• An ESO Insights viewer can use and filter existing dashboards that have been shared with them.

• An ESO Analytics user can access their classic Analytics reports from within the ESO Insights module. In the ESO Analytics module, you can run ESO-provided reports and change the filters on them, but not create your own reports or modify existing ESO Analytics reports.

An ESO Insights manager can assign ESO Insights licenses to users, and does not need an ESO Insights license of their own to do so. ESO Insights managers must have the necessary roles and permissions assigned to their user account by an ESO Suite administrator, to access the ESO Insights module's configuration pages.

1. (If you have the appropriate roles and permissions) Configure settings needed to add and manage users for the ESO Insights module.

   • Assign user roles in the ESO Insights module

2. Manage dashboards in any of the following ways.

   • Add a new, blank dashboard
   • Find and open an existing dashboard or report
   • Manage basic dashboard functions
   • Control dashboard content and appearance
   • Email dashboard information
   • Share a dashboard and its information
   • Update custom dashboards
   • Access advanced dashboard features

3. Manage individual widgets on a dashboard in any of the following ways.

   • Manage basic widget functions

   • Configure widgets

   • Access advanced widget features

4. Access and view ESO Analytics reports, as described in View ESO Analytics reports.
