Configure map data skins
A data skin is a graphical interface tied to specific map data. You can associate any feature on an FH Mobile Response map with one or more databases, and define what data should be extracted from the databases, when it should appear, and how it should be displayed using customized tabs and dialog boxes.
A data skin consists of a set of files which control:
- The location of the data within the map folder.
- The relationship between data in multiple tables.
- How the data is loaded as part of a preplan.
- Interface layouts for displaying the data.
Caution: Configuring map data skins is an advanced function, and requires a familiarity with data schema, database tables, child tables that contain related data, columns within tables, columns that require special handling, Esri's ArcCatalog, .XML
file editing, and more.
Note: You must use ArcCatalog to create Esri database schema. ArcCatalog is a geographic information system (GIS) administration application in Esri's ArcGIS suite. It lets you integrate and manage data files, databases, ArcGIS documents, and more. A database schema of a database system is its structure, described in a formal language supported by the database management system (DBMS), and refers to the organization of data to create a blueprint of how a database will be constructed (divided into database tables).
You can access the tabs and dialog boxes by selecting features on the map, searching for an address, or using a matched incident address or a geographical search area defined around the incident site.
