Find hydrants or occupancies from FH

When FH Mobile Response and FIREHOUSE Software (FH) are integrated, you can find hydrants or occupancies from the FH database, and display their locations in FH Mobile Response.

  1. Select the tab of the map that you want the hydrant or occupancy locations to appear in when you find them.

  2. Do one of the following.

    ClosedFind hydrant locations
    • On the Main ribbon, click Find Locations → Hydrants (from FireHouse).
    • Choose Go → Tools → Find Locations → Hydrants (from FireHouse).
    • Choose Go → Tools → Routing → Find Locations → Hydrants (from FireHouse).
    ClosedFind occupancy locations
    • On the Main ribbon, click Find Locations → Occupancies (from FireHouse).
    • Choose Go → Tools → Find Locations → Occupancies (from FireHouse).
    • Choose Go → Tools → Routing → Find Locations → Occupancies (from FireHouse).

    The Hydrants or Occupancies tab appears to the left of the map, and a list of locations appear in the list in the tab. The map you selected displays location icons and a push-pin at the currently selected location. Not all of the icons for the possible locations may be visible in the selected map.

  3. (Optional, if a lot of locations appear in the tab) Under Attribute Filter, type the numbers or letters corresponding to only the locations you want to see.

    The list of locations reduces as you type, to only the ones that still match the text in Filter. The number of locations in the map also reduces to only the remaining locations.

  4. (If multiple locations are found) In the tab, select the correct location from the list.

    The push-pin for the selected location turns red on the map, to identify the location.

  5. (Optional) Change the geographical area that the search is conducted over.

    1. (Optional) In the tab, in the blank field at the top of the menu, type the numbers or letters corresponding to only the locations you want to see.

      The list of options in the menu reduces as you type, to only the ones that still match the text in the field.

      Example: If you enter inc in the blank field, the menu shortens to include only the options with those characters in them.

    2. Select the type of point to define the geographical area around.

      ClosedDisplay location icons anywhere in the map data

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Anywhere.

        FH Mobile Response searches all the points of interest in the map data for the point of interest type you are searching for. If more than 1000 locations are found, the message Max Results appears on a red background in the upper right corner of the tab, and only those locations will be displayed.

        Note: The locations that are found appear in the map, but may not be located in your current map view. If you zoom out far enough, the location markers will become visible on the map.

      ClosedA selected point

      1. In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Point.

        The mouse pointer becomes a cross-hairs.

      2. Place the cross-hairs on the point on the map you want to find the locations relative to, then click.

        In the map, the searchable area changes to a one-mile distance from the point you clicked (indicated by a green circle), and only locations within the area appear on the map. In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedYour current location

      Note: You must have a GPS device configured to work with FH Mobile Response to use this option.

      Information on working with a GPS device to obtain your current location is available in Work with GPS, tracking, and the map.

      Your current location appears on the map as a directional arrow in an orange circle with an arrow in it, and the directional arrow moves on the map as you drive, to reflect your changing location.

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Current Location (GPS).

        The green search distance appears around the current location icon, moves on the map as you drive to maintain the distance around the changing location, and location icons appear and disappear within the search distance as you drive by the corresponding locations.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedA starting point

      Note: You must have already marked a starting point on the map to use this option.

      Information on marking a starting point is available in Manually define a starting point for a route.

      A green flag on the map indicates the starting point for the route.

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Route Start.

        The green search distance appears around the starting point icon.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedA destination

      Note: You must already marked a destination on the map to use this option.

      Information on marking a destination is available in Manually define a destination point for a route.

      A checkered flag on the map indicates a destination point.

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Destination.

        The green search distance appears around the destination icon.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedA route

      Note: You must already defined a route on the map to use this option.

      Information on defining a route is available in Work with routing.

      A line on the map between the starting point and a destination indicates a route.

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Route.

        The green search distance appears along the length of the route.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedAn incident location

      Note: You must already marked an incident location on the map to use this option.

      Information on marking an incident location is available in Mark an incident location on a map.

      An orange star on the map indicates an incident location.

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Location Information Source.

        The green search distance appears around the incident location icon.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedThe mouse pointer (cursor)

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Location Information Source.

        The green search distance appears centered around the position of your mouse pointer (cursor) over the map, and moves with the cursor as you move it.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedThe map's center

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Distance from Map's Center.

        The green search distance appears centered around the middle of the map.

        In the tab, a field for changing the distance and a menu to select the units to measure the distance with appear.

      ClosedThe map's viewable area

      • In the tab, from Geospatial Filter, choose Within Map's Viewable Area.

        The green search distance encompasses the entire area displayed on the map.

    3. (Optional) Change the search distance.

      Note: If you chose Within Map's Viewable Area, the field and button below do not appear in the tab, and you must zoom in or out on the map to change the search distance.

      1. Under Geospatial Filter, in the distance field, type a larger or smaller distance value for the search.
      2. From the button to the right of the distance field, select the units the search distance should be measured in.
  6. Closed(Optional) View more information about each possible location.

    1. At the bottom of the tab, click Switch to Advanced to view more information for each possible location.

      The Locations tab appears, and the tab displaying the possible matches becomes a sub-tab of the Locations tab. Each possible match has its own menu arrow on the right, and the button at the bottom of the tab is renamed to Switch to Basic. To the right of the map, a toolbar of additional options appears.

    2. Click the menu arrow to the right of the match you want to view more information on.

      An information display appears to the right, displaying the location's latitude and longitude, and the match score for the location.

    3. (Optional) At the bottom of the tab, click Switch to Basic to display the basic version of the possible match list.

      The Locations tab disappears, and the tab displaying the possible matches becomes a primary tab again, and the individual menu buttons disappear for each possible match. The button at the bottom of the tab is renamed to Switch to Advanced. To the right of the map, the toolbar of additional options disappears.

  7. In the tab, select the correct location from the list.

    The push-pin on the map moves as necessary to identify the location you selected on the tab.

  8. (Optional) Work more with the location results in the list.
