Install Sync Service for ePCR

The FH Mobile Sync Service is an optional installation, designed for FH Mobile ePCR users experiencing lengthy data synchronization times between FH Mobile and the FH database. Sync Service interfaces with the SQL database of FH Enterprise and FH Web systems to improve synchronization speed.

Note: Sync Service should be installed on the same desktop computer as the FH Mobile License Manager, and as close as possible to the SQL database.

  1. Log on as an administrator to the computer where the FH Mobile License Manager is installed .

  2. Insert the FH Mobile DVD into your CD/DVD drive.

    The FIREHOUSE Software Mobile dialog box appears.

  3. Click Install FH Mobile Sync Service (Server Only).

    The FH Mobile Sync Service install dialog box appears.

  4. Click Next >.

    The FTP XML Setup screen of the wizard appears.

  5. Depending on whether you have an FTP client already set up, do one of the following: 

    Do you have an FTP client set up? Then do this

    Yes

    In FTP Pickup Location, enter the path to the FTP client.

    No

    Leave FTP Pickup Location blank.

    Note: Setting up an FTP client is not done in FH or FH Mobile applications, and is beyond the scope of this document.

  6. Click Next >.

    The Select Installation Folder screen of the wizard appears.

  7. Click Browse, and then change the destination location to C:\FIREHOUSE Software Mobile Service\FH Mobile Sync Service\ or another location outside the Program Files or Windows directories.

  8. (Optional) To see a list of which drives you can install Sync Service to, click Disk Cost.

    The FH Mobile Sync Service Disk Space dialog box appears. This dialog box only displays information for your reference, and can be closed by clicking OK.

  9. Under Install FH Mobile Sync Service for yourself, or for anyone who uses this computer, select one of the following to indicate who can use Sync Service on this computer:

    Choose this option To allow this FH Mobile use

    Everyone

    All users that access this computer.

    Just me

    Only by the user currently logged in to the workstation.

  10. Click Next >.

    The Confirm Installation screen of the wizard appears.

  11. Click Next >.

    The installation begins, and the Installing FH Mobile Sync Service screen appears in the wizard.

    When the installation finishes, the Installation Complete screen of the wizard appears.

  12. Click Close.

    Tip: You can find the installed service under Start → Control Panel → Administrative Tools → Services → FHMSyncService.

  13. Configure Sync Service as described in Set ePCR Sync Service options.
