Identify the primary impressions and patient's complaint

The chief complaint is a concise statement describing the symptom, problem, or condition that is the reason for a medical encounter. A secondary complaint is a second, less severe problem with the patient, which may or may not be directly related to the chief complaint.

  1. (If you have not done so already) Add a new incident, or open an existing incident, as described Add or edit an incident.

By default, the Scene tab appears.

  2. At the bottom of the screen, touch Impression.

Fields for specifying the medic's primary and secondary impressions and the patient's chief complaint appear. The Primary Impression field is already activated, with a menu of choices for specifying the problem the emergency medical services team was called for available.

  3. Determine whether the complaint is a medical issue or a trauma (physical injury) to the patient, and then touch either the Medical or Trauma sub-tab.

Selections for specifying the problem the emergency medical services team was called for in one or two words appear.

  4. Touch one of the selections to describe the medic's primary impression of the patient's condition.

Your selection appears in Primary Impression.

    1. Touch the treatment and/or medication that was administered to the patient.

The time is automatically recorded for that treatment or medication, and automatically added to the events log, where the patient's vitals, procedures, and medications are recorded.

    2. Touch Continue to close the menu.

  7. Touch Secondary Impression, and then select an option that best describes the medic's secondary impression of the patient's condition.
