Add, edit, or deactivate protocols

A protocol is the procedure a medic in the field should follow when treating a symptom. Protocol information is generally contained in a flowchart, diagram, or series of steps, in a PDF file.

Note: If you do not have electronic copies of your department's protocols, you may need to scan printed pages of the current protocol documentation and save them as PDF files, that you can then attach to protocols on the FH Medic administration site.

The list of protocols a medic can select from must be defined on the FH Medic administration site. This list is available in FH Medic on the mobile computer when you choose FH → Incident → Protocols.

  1. (If you have not done so already) Access the Configurations -> FH Medic page, as described in Configure FH Medic for the mobile computers.
  2. Click Protocols.

The Configurations -> Protocols page appears.

  3. Do any of the following.

The Edit Protocol dialog box appears over the Configurations -> Protocols page. For new protocols, the fields in this dialog box are blank. For existing protocols, the fields populate with existing information for the protocol.

  4. Do any of the following.

  5. Click Save Changes.

If you added a protocol, the new protocol appears at the bottom of the list on the Configurations -> Protocols page. If you deactivate a protocol, the protocol still appears in the list, but its status in the Active column is listed as No.

  6. (Optional) On the left side of the row listing the protocol you want to edit, click View File.

A new browser window opens and displays the PDF file attached to the protocol.

  7. (Optional) Arrange the protocols in the list as needed.

Information on arranging the protocols is available in Sort the protocol list.
