LAMS stroke scale

The LAMS is a pre-hospital scale derived from the motor exam components of the LAPSS, that checks for facial droop, arm drift, and grip strength for a total of 0 to 5 points. This stroke scale is particularly useful for stratifying stroke severity in the field. A score of 4 or 5 is considered “positive”. A positive score means the person is likely having an LVO stroke and could be eligible for an EMT-P to reduce disability.
