Define the printable area of a document

You can define the printable area of a document with an alternate .PPD file, which enforces a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) margin for defined paper sizes, thereby preventing documents from being "clipped" when printed.

  1. Choose Start → Control Panel.

    The Control Panel window appears.

  2. Double-click Administrative Tools.

The Administrative Tools dialog box appears.

  3. Double-click Services.

    The Services window appears.

  4. Right-click FH Web Application Publishing Service, and then choose Stop from the menu that appears.
  5. Depending on your operating system, navigate to one of the following folders.

    Operating system
    32-bit

    C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3

    64-bit

    C:\Windows\System32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3

  6. Check for the UniversalRemotePrinter.BPD file, and then delete it if it exists.

  7. In a web browser, download UniversalPrinterDriver.ppd to a location on your hard drive.
  8. Depending on your operating system, copy and paste the UniversalPrinterDriver.ppd file to one of the following folders:

    Operating system
    32-bit

    C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3

    64-bit

    C:\Windows\System32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3

  9. In the Services window, right-click FH Web Application Publishing Service, and then choose Start from the menu that appears.
  10. Using FH running in an FH Web session as normal, send a document to your printer.
