Understand the FH Medic components on Windows
The most basic installation of FH Medic consists of the following components.
- The FH Medic application, which is installed on a mobile computer such as a laptop or a tablet device. The medic in the field enters incident data into FH Medic on the mobile computer, and the data is automatically relayed to the FH Medic Cloud through a wireless Internet connection. If the wireless connection is lost, the data automatically saves to the local hard drive of the computer, and then automatically uploads to the FH Medic Cloud when the Internet connection is re-established.
- The FH Medic Cloud, which uses an HTTPS address and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect your data. You can use the FH Medic administration web site to access your department's account on the FH Medic Cloud, configure data fields and requirements for the FH Medic on the mobile computer, review data, and generate reports from the data entered by the medic. Reviewed incidents and configuration changes made on the administration web site are automatically pushed to the mobile computer the next time FH Medic starts.
Note: If you will import FH Medic incident data into FIREHOUSE Software, or if you will receive initial incident data from a CAD system, you need to install an additional FH Medic Integration Suite component to manage the transfer of data between the FH Medic Cloud and a computer in your department's network.
Information on importing FH Medic incident data into FIREHOUSE Software is available in Import FH Medic data into FIREHOUSE Software. Information on importing incident data from a CAD system to FH Medic is available in Import CAD system data into FH Medic.
