Specify log files and error handling

When FH CAD Monitor processing is interrupted or an error is triggered during processing, it is important to notify a FH CAD Monitor administrator and have access to the error from a log. The log file is stored in the directory where FH CAD Monitor was installed.

1. (If you selected Run as a Service during installation) Stop the FH CAD Monitor service.

   Information on stopping the FH CAD Monitor service is available in Stop a service.

2. At the bottom of the FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor window, click Options.

   The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box appears, displaying the General tab.

3. Click the Log & Errors tab.

   

4. Under Log File, do the following.

   1. For Automatically clear log file entries older than ___ days, specify the number of days for the log file to retain log processing and error entries.

   2. Click Log Entry Text Colors.

      The Log Text Colors dialog box appears.

      

   3. For the log entry type you want to color code, click the lookup button , and then use the Color dialog box that appears to select the color you want to color the log entry with.
   4. In the Log Text Colors dialog box, click OK.
   5. (If necessary) Click Clear Now to clear the log file (iface_log.dbf).
5. (NexGen, Spillman CAD, and Generic ASCII Import) Under Debug Logging, do the following.

   1. Select or clear Log SQL DB Interactions (Select Update, Insert, etc) to indicate whether or not to record every interaction FH CAD Monitor makes with the SQL database in the log file.

   2. Select or clear Log Database Values to indicate whether or not to record values changed in the SQL database by FH CAD Monitor in the log file.

6. Under Error Handling, do the following.

   1. Select or clear Suspend processing when an error occurs to indicate whether or not to stop processing when FH CAD Monitor encounters an error.

      No CAD system records are imported when processing is suspended.

   2. Select or clear Send email when an error occurs to indicate whether or not to send an email to the specified email addresses when an error is encountered.

      Caution: Cascading errors can generate many emails.

   3. (If you select Send email when an error occurs) Do the following.

      1. In Send to, type the email addresses of the people you want to notify when FH CAD Monitor encounters an error.
      2. In Outgoing Mail Server, type the name of the mail server to use to send the email message.
      3. In Reply to, the email address of the people you want responses to be directed to.
      4. Click Send Test Email.

7. Click Save.

   The FIREHOUSE Software CAD Monitor Options dialog box closes.

8. (If you stopped the FH CAD Monitor service earlier) Restart the FH CAD Monitor service.
