Define a central station
You need to define a central station for your fire station, listing the central station's address, FDID number, and a station code in FH's lookup tables.
Note: You only need to perform the steps below if you have purchased your copy of FH.

Choose Tools → Lookup Tables.
The Lookup Tables dialog box appears.

Expand the System-Wide Codes category of lookup tables.

Specify the city, state, and zip code for the central station in the lookup tables.
- Expand the Cities, States, and ZIP Codes category of lookup tables.

Select the Cities, States, and ZIP Codes lookup table, and then click Setup.
The Lookup - Cities, States, and ZIP Codes dialog box appears.

Click New.
The Code for Cities, States, and ZIP Codes dialog box appears.
Note: Any fields highlighted in yellow required an entry.
- In City, type the name of a town.
- In State, type the name of the state the town is located in, or click the lookup button and then use the Lookup - State, U.S. Territory Abbreviations dialog box which appears to select the state.
- In ZIP Code, type the zip code for the town.
- Click Save.
- In the Code for Cities, States, and ZIP Codes dialog box, click Close.

Specify your central station's FDID number in the lookup tables.

In the Lookup Tables dialog box, select FDID Numbers, and then click Setup.
The Lookup - FDID Numbers dialog box appears.

Click New.
The Code for FDID Numbers dialog box appears.
- In Code, type your station's FDID number.
- In Description, type a description for the station.
- Click Save.
- In the Lookup - FDID Numbers dialog box, click Close.

Specify the central station in the lookup tables.

In the Lookup Tables dialog box, click Stations, and then click Setup.
The Lookup - Stations dialog box appears.

Click New.
The Code for Stations dialog box appears.

In Code, type a code for the fire station.
This code can be any combination of letters and numbers that you want to use, up to three characters long.
- In Station Name, type a name for the fire station.
- In FDID, type the FDID number you entered earlier, or click the lookup button and then use the Lookup - FDID Numbers dialog box which appears to select the FDID number.

On the right side of the dialog box, near the top, select Central Station to indicate that this fire station is defined as the central station in FH.
The City, State, Zip Code, and FIPS County fields highlight as required fields.

In City, type the name of the city you entered earlier when you specified the city, state, and zip code for your fire station in the lookup tables.
The State and ZIP Code fields populate automatically with information.
- In FIPS County, type the county code, or click the lookup button and then use the Lookup - FIPS County Codes dialog box which appears.

(Optional) Fill out the other fields in the dialog box.

- Click Save.
- In the Lookup - Stations dialog box, click Close.

- In the Lookup Tables dialog box, click Close.
- Continue with Define the workstation location.
