Network installation changes

Note: You only need to perform the steps below if all of the following are true:

  • You want to store the FH data and components folders on a network server.
  • You installed FH as a standalone installation and need to move the data and components folders to the network server, and to change the necessary paths in FH.
    1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the location of the FH installation.
    2. Select the DATA, SYSTEM, QUERIES, and REPORTS folders, and then copy them.

    3. Navigate to the location on the network server where you want to store the FH data and components folders, and then paste the folders into this location.

    1. Choose Tools → Workstation Options.

      The Workstation Options dialog box appears.

    2. Click the Local Data & Files tab.

    3. Click Database and use the file browser that appears to navigate to the DATA folder you copied to the network drive, or click in the Database field and type the path.
    4. Repeat the previous step for the SYSTEM, QUERIES, and REPORTS to change the path from the current folder location to the copy of the folder on the network drive.

    5. Click OK.

      A confirmation message stating that startup database changes have occurred and that you may need to exit and restart FH appears.

    6. Click OK.

      A second confirmation message, stating that system database changes have occurred and you may need to exit and restart FH appears.

    7. Click OK.

      A third confirmation message, stating that directory changes have occurred and you need to exit and restart FH appears.

    8. Click OK.
    9. Exit FH.

      10. The next time you start FH and log in, you will be running a network installation of FH.

  3. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the location of the FH installation.
  4. Delete the DATA, SYSTEM, QUERIES, and REPORTS folders in this location.
  5. (If you purchased your installation of FH) Continue with Activate the FH installation.
