Edit menu

The Edit menu contains functions that pertain to the editing of a sketch and its data.

Icon Lets you

Undo up to ten of the last actions you performed on your sketch. By default, this is set to five undo actions, and can be changed by choosing Tools → Configuration, clicking the Misc. tab, and editing the value under Undo Levels.

Redo the last action you have undone.

Select all of a specific type of entity listed.

  • Select → All: Select everything on the current page of your sketch file. All selected items are highlighted and/or displayed with handles.
  • Select → Areas: Select all defined areas within the current page of your sketch. Selected areas are highlighted and displayed with handles. This is convenient for deleting/copying multiple areas at once.
  • Select → Text Labels: Select all text labels within the current page of your sketch. Selected labels are highlighted with handles, letting you make global changes to your text labels.
  • Select → Symbols: Select all symbols within the current page of your sketch. Selected symbols are highlighted with handles. This is convenient for deleting multiple symbols at once.
  • Select → Free Form: Select all free-form lines drawn within the current page of your sketch. This is convenient when making global changes to line styles and/or mass deletion.
  • Select → Deed Calls: Select all deed calls within the current page of your sketch. This is convenient when making global font changes and/or mass deletion of deed calls.

Choose the area you want to select. This is convenient when selecting specific areas in large/complex sketches. You can also click inside an area to select it.

Select dimensions within the current page of your sketch. This is convenient when making global font changes to your dimensions, and/or for mass deletion.

Remove the selected items from your sketch, and place them into memory. These items may be pasted back onto any sketch page (including other open sketch files) by clicking Paste.

Copy the selected items into memory. These items may be pasted back onto any sketch page (including other open sketch files) by clicking Paste.

Paste any areas in memory onto the sketch page an item as a non-calculated area (NCA), and automatically define them as non-calculated. This is convenient to show shapes/areas for illustration purposes, but not double-up on calculations.

Paste any items in memory onto any sketch page. If areas are pasted, the areas and calculations are added to the sketch page.

Modify the attributes of selected text labels or dimensions. The Font dialog box appears, letting you access the fonts installed in your operating system for use within FH Sketch.

Change the attributes of any selected lines. You can change the thickness, color, and style of the lines in your sketch to match your preferences and/or requirements.

Place FH Sketch in line-edit mode by changing the cursor to a solid black cursor and placing it on the first line of the area being edited.

Note: Line Edit is available only with open areas.

Rename and change the entire properties of a selected area as if you were defining it for the first time.

Reopen a closed area, so that you can edit that area.

Reopen a closed area at a specific location, so that you can edit that area.

Bring an area to the “front” for easier selection, application of fill patterns, and so forth.

Send an area to the “back” for easier selection of areas that were previously “behind” an area.

Edit the current subject information (for example, the address of a property) for the sketch file.

Add a comment to your sketch file, which will also print on selected sketch forms.

Note: This is only available on select forms.

Access additional comments for your sketch files, by replacing the breakdown section of the calculation summary.
